Drinking water hygiene from the cellar to the pre-wall
Just under 24 million euros have been invested in Botnang, Germany, in order to revitalise the centre of this suburb of Stuttgart: Over an area of 5,100 m² a four-storey complex plus pitched roof storey was developed with shops, a large supermarket, a music school, a meeting point, a nursery with 1,200 m² of space to play in an atrium-inspired inner court and a total of 50 rental flats. The project was rounded off with an underground car park with over 100 spaces.
Preservation of the drinking water quality was a top priority in this extensive complex with different usage profiles. The system expertise from Viega helped to ensure the regular exchange of water in the network.
Reducing pressure losses over 10 km
In the first construction phase of the quarter, four kilometres of the stainless steel pipe system Sanpress Inox were installed for the main distribution and around seven kilometres of the plastic pipe system Raxofix for storey distribution. With conventional plastic pipe systems in particular pressure resistances build up very quickly which are usually coped with by a certain degree of "oversizing". With the flow-optimised Raxofix system from Viega used here, the drinking water installations could be sized to suit needs more closely without having to compromise in terms of supply comfort – a valuable aspect for the regular exchange of water.
Pre-wall with sound decoupling
Speaking of comfort: In the sought-after flats bathroom equipment including increased sound protection is an important criterion. All the sanitary facilities in the building complex were thus finished using the Steptec pre-wall system with the associated WC and washbasin elements.
Conclusion: The close cooperation between planners, installers and system manufacturers helped to forge a strong quality chain. Leading to optimal results in terms of the technical safeguarding of the drinking water quality and also comfort.
